Easy Homemade Ahi Tuna

Ahi Tuna many people think this is something you only can get at a restaurant because you aren't sure how to cook or prepare. But this is one of the easiest dishes to make. If you can put together a simple marinade and heat up a skillet, you can make this restaurant quality seared ahi tuna recipe. There are many different marinade recipes on Pinterest and honestly, I have tried many and none of them turned out as a failure. With this recipe you should have everything in your pantry and its super cost affective. Another question you are probably having is where I can buy the Ahi Tuna. I usually always get mine at Kroger when it goes on sale which it always does in the frozen section. you want it frozen because normally fish to be eaten raw should be frozen. Reason it kills the kinds of bacteria in fish that can make you sick. With all that being said let's get started.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of Ahi Tuna

  • 1/3 cup Soy Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Sesame oil

  • 2 tbsp Minced garlic

  • 2 Limes

  • 3 tbsp Cilantro

  • 1 tsp Pure Can Sugar

  • Sesame seeds

  • 1 small pack of Baby Bella Mushrooms

  • 3 cups Baby Spinach

  • Extra Virgin oil

Step by Step

  1. Get out a gallon size zip lock bag. Place Ahi tuna patties into bag.

  2. Pour 1/3 cup of soy sauce, 1tbsp of sesame oil, 2 fresh squeezed limes, 1 tbsp of minced garlic, 3 tbsp of freshly cut cilantro, and 1 tsp of pure cane sugar into a bowl and mix until all combined. Then pour mixture into Ziplock bag and shack gently.

  3. Place Ziplock into the fridge for 3 hours.

  4. Time has passed time to cook.

  5. Get out 2 skillets. We are going to start with our sautéed mushrooms and spinach. Pour 1 tbsp of extra virgin oil into pan. Get to medium heat and add 1 tbsp of minced garlic. Let that cook for about 2 minutes then add mushrooms. Cover and cook for 3 minutes. Once those start becoming tender add in your 3 cups of spinach a small amount of soy sauce, stir, and cover again for 3 minutes.

  6. Once the spinach is cooking you will need to get out your other skillet and turn heat up to medium.

  7. Add in 1 tbsp of sesame oil. Once that gets hot place your ahi tuna into pan. Let cook on each side for about a minute in a half to 2 (I like my tuna a little bit rawer. This also depends on how thick your tuna is.)

  8. Now each side is done sear the sides of the tuna just a little bit so it's not bright pink.

  9. Time to assemble. Get out a plate. Place your Spinach Mushroom mix on the bottom then place your nice seared ahi tuna on top.

  10. Take a fresh avocado and slice and place on top with a nice helping of sesame seeds (I also like everything but the bagel seasoning on this as well). You then can drizzle with a little bit more soy sauce for taste, Enjoy!
