Green Egg Kabobs

I am all about grilling on the Big Green Egg this summer. I don't know why but when I cook on a grill it just feels like summer. I remember growing up we use to eat these Kabobs all the time. Definitely when we were camping. All you need is a small grill or fire, a protein, and some veggies. People do Kabobs all different ways. I have found it easier to make a protein skewer and a vegetable skewer so everything cooks correctly. Follow these steps below and you will have one delicious summer meal for the family!

Ingredients (made for 4 people)

  • 1 pound of chicken (Marinate for 2 hours. I used Italian dressing and McCormick chicken seasoning)

  • 1 pound of steak (Marinate for 2 hours. I used Worcestershire sauce and McCormick steak seasoning)

  • 1 small package of mushrooms

  • 1 green pepper

  • 1 small red onion

  • 1 small yellow onion

  • Olive oil

  • garlic salt seasoning

  • Big Green Egg (or any grill)

  • 9 grill Skewers

Step by Step

  1. Get your grill started and get temp. hot for the green egg you want temp 375.

  2. Take your marinated chicken and steak and cut up into large chucks. You will want to put each protein on different skewers. You should have about 2 of each depending on the size of your skewer and the size you cut the meat.

  3. Next, you will want to take each of your veggies and cut into chucks. (Trick: you will want to make sure that the pieces are large enough and thick so they wont break in half when you slide on skewer.)

  4. Now they are all cut up you are going to want to alternate putting the pieces of vegetables on. You should get about 3 skewers worth.

  5. Drizzle your vegetable skewers with olive oil and a nice sprinkle of garlic salt and pepper. (Make sure you do each side.)

  6. Your grill should be at the correct temperature. You will want to place the chicken on first as chicken takes a lot longer to cook.

  7. Keep your chicken on for 8-10 minutes and then place your veggies one. Cook for another 5 minutes. (Trick: if you like your vegetables more well put on 5 minutes into cooking the chicken.)

  8. Next, put your steak on. (Trick: we like our steak cooked between Rare Med Rare so it doesn't take to long to cook.) Keep everything on for another 8 minutes.

  9. While cooking you want to turn skewers every so often to make sure each side gets cooked.

  10. Take everything off grill, plate up with a side of your choosing and enjoy!!
